The D2000 system is distributed as an installer that installs the necessary D2000 system files on disk. If an error in the D2000 is fixed or a new feature is added, some of these files need to be updated or new files added.
The patching procedure on the Windows platform is described here.
File source
Installation files and patches are available on the D2000 website. Patches are available in the form of patch sets (zipped files) or the latest patches (available at pub.ipesoft.com). The current Patch_Info.txt (Slovak only) is also located there.
Installing patches
Just copy the downloaded patches or the unpacked patch sets into the D2000 program directory of the installation and replace the old files with new ones.
We recommend:
- do not replace the old versions of the files but back them up (or back up the entire program directory) - the backup can be useful if you need to restore the original D2000 version
- if patching is done with the D2000 application running, the used files (e.g. kernel) might not be able to be replaced with new ones. However, it is possible to move them elsewhere (e.g. to the old subdirectory), or rename them (e.g. to kernel.old) and then copy the new files
- after patching, we recommend restarting the patched processes or the entire application
In redundant systems, we recommend the following procedure:
- patch the passive D2000 Server (SBS)
- switch redundancy (so the patched server becomes active)
- patch the second D2000 Server, which is now also passive (SBS)
