The OPC (OLE for Process Control) interface has been designed to allow the applications, running under OS Windows, access to data of hardware and software applications designed for process control. It is an open standard that allow the access to data by means of a standard method. The method is the same regardless of the type and source of the data.

The program D2000 OPC Server allows the different programs to access the data from control devices such as PLC or DCS. Generally, when a program needs to access to data of this device, there must be designed a specific interface and driver.
