At the highest level, we choose between the DLMS/COSEM and IEC62056-21 protocols, with the former being the preferred choice because it provides more options and better meets modern requirements. However, under certain circumstances (EMH in the basic settings) it can be disabled in the meter and it is not possible to turn it on, or it is not supported by the older meter. In that case, IEC62056-21 serves as a backup solution. For both protocols, it is necessary to set:
- authentication method - without password or with password
- password if required.
